Let us help you maintain a clean home with this bathroom cleaning checklist.
Nothing beats a soak in a hot tub after a hard day’s work. But can you really have a relaxing soak in a scum-filled tub?
We get it! Sometimes we delay cleaning the bathroom for some reason. Maybe you are late for a meeting, you have a phone call to make, or you need to run to the groceries. You think it’s fine until you see those icky grime building up in your bathroom sink, that dreadful yellow ring in your toilet, or worst, mold or mildew build-up on your grout and shower tiles.
Maybe this bathroom cleaning checklist can help you with your bathroom woes.
Importance of A Clean Bathroom
You don’t need to be a clean freak to know this. It is important to regularly clean your bathrooms for hygienic purposes. Imagine all the dirt that we wash off every single day. They won’t magically disappear down the drain, and that’s just for showers and baths. How about when you take a dump? Flushing it does not mean you have cleaned your toilet after. You just got rid of the dump but not the germs with it.
Regular bathroom cleaning can lessen the germs that may cause infections and diseases in your household from spreading or even starting. Let’s start with the tools and supplies that you will be needing to clean your bathroom.
Bathroom Cleaning Supplies and Tools List
- All-purpose bathroom cleaner
- Glass cleaner
- Toilet bowl cleaner
- Disinfecting wipes or spray
- Bleach
- Squeegee
- Toilet brush
- Microfiber cloths, sponges, or paper towels
- Vacuum or broom and dustpan
- Bucket
- Mop
- Spray bottle
Bathroom Cleaning Schedule
This will depend on which will work best for you or which schedule you are willing to commit to.
TIP: Having small cleaning tasks every day can keep your bathroom space tidy. Do these simple daily tasks, and you will save a lot of cleaning time when the weekend comes.
Daily Cleaning Tasks
- Pick your towel from the floor and hang it properly. It won’t even take a minute from your busy schedule. You don’t want any mold or mildew building up on your towels. This might save you laundry time, too.
- Clear up your vanity sink. Make sure to return your creams, make-up, or whatnot to their proper places. If you don’t have a lot of space for your toiletries, consider installing additional bathroom shelves or cabinets. Or you can just buy an extra toiletry organizer to keep everything neat.
- Remove hair from the tub or shower drain so it won’t cause clogged problems in the future.
Weekly Cleaning Tasks
- Sweep or vacuum the bathroom floor first before washing any other surface to remove visible dust and clutter.
- Sanitize your bathroom sink. Spray with your favorite cleaner and let it sit for some time to break the grime off from the sink surface. Also, clean the faucet, knobs, and all in-betweens to prevent gunk build-up.
- Wipe clean your bathroom counter. Make sure to use the appropriate cleaner for the surface material you have.
- Disinfect your toilet. It’s the most used in your bathroom, after all. Don’t just clean and disinfect the toilet bowl. Do the whole thing. Yes, including the tank, seat, and lid. Apply your choice of toilet bowl cleaner first for it to have some alone time with all the gunk and grime inside. For the tank, seat, and lid, you can use a disinfectant spray with cleaning properties to save you some time. Wash or wipe after the required contact time. Check your toilet bowl to see if it still needs some scrubbing. If not, you can just flush it down. You can also use some toilet tank deodorizer to eliminate the unwanted smell with every flush.
- Clean your bathroom mirrors. Use your favorite glass cleaner and microfiber cloth for this job.
- Make sure to empty your trash bins.
- You also need to wipe and disinfect bathroom doors, doorknobs, cabinet handles, and light switches.
- Clean the shower and bathtub. Use a cleaning product that can get rid of soap scum and mold, and mildew from your tub surface. Most of the time, these cleaning products can also be used on showerheads. If you have shower curtains and bath mats, wash off soap scum build-up, and wipe or hang them to dry.
- Wash, scrub, and wipe dry the bathroom walls with your choice of cleaning product. You always clean the floor last. If your walls and floors are tiled, check for any discolorations in the tiles and the grout. Apply some cleaner and scrub away. This will help prevent mold and mildew build-up in your bathroom walls and floors. Make sure to wipe dry your bathroom walls and mop dry the floor to finish everything up.
- While you are at it, run all dirty bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths in the laundry. They will all be done after you finish cleaning the bathroom.
Too much for you? If you want to keep your bathroom clean, you have to include cleaning in your schedule. No matter how busy you are, you have to find time for this. Or you can always ask someone to do the bathroom cleaning for you. No judgment here, we promise.
Warning: If you plan to clean your bathroom, make sure that you read the label of your cleaning products. It is possible that you might be allergic to one of its ingredients. Always be cautious and use protective gear whenever you are about to deep clean your toilet.
